Park Mark awards for Dacorum Borough Council in Hertfordshire
Dacorum Borough Council has once again demonstrated the highest standards across their parking operations
Following three recent Park Mark reassessment surveys by the BPA and Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Dacorum Borough Council parking facilities at Langley Hill in Kings Langley, Park Road in Hemel Hempstead and The Forge in Tring have all been reaccredited once again this month.
This is an impressive achievement and recognises that each of the three parking facilities have measures in place that actively deter crime and the fear of crime.
Park Mark® is the accredited logo of the Safer Parking Scheme. It is given to parking facilities that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police and the British Parking Association. Their assessments include management and maintenance of the facility, checking that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage, and cleanliness. All these are known to reduce the opportunity for crime and thus create a safer environment for the motorist and their vehicle.
Car parks with a Park Mark® can use signage featuring the distinctive Park Mark® tick so that drivers know exactly where to go for safe parking. Facilities that have received this award have seen a drop-in vehicle-related crime of over 80%
Dan Rodger, Parking Services Manager Dacorum Borough Council said: "I am delighted that Dacorum Borough Council car parks at Langley Hill, The Forge and Park Road have once again been awarded Park Mark accreditation. We are proud to support the Park Mark award initiative and are pleased to provide safer and welcoming car parks to all our visitors across the borough."
Mark Montgomery, Crime Prevention Design Advisor / Designing Out Crime Officer Hertfordshire Constabulary said “I am pleased that Dacorum Borough Council have retained their membership of the Park Mark Scheme and I am happy to reissue the awards to the three sites validated today.”
Antony Powell - BPA Area Manager said “The recent Park Mark award reaccreditations of the Langley Hill, Park Street and The Forge car parks is thoroughly deserved.
