Dacorum Borough Council Car Park

Park Mark awarded to Dacorum Borough Council

Dacorum Borough Council in Hertfordshire has once again demonstrated the highest standards across its parking operations

Seven Dacorum Borough Council car parks have been reaccredited once again with the Park Mark award following their scheduled reassessment surveys by Hertfordshire Constabulary and the BPA.  The St John`s Well Lane, Water Lane, Canal Fields, Moor End, Frogmore Street (East) Frogmore Street (West) and Church Yard car parks have all once more achieved the prestigious Park Mark award. This is an impressive achievement and demonstrates that Dacorum Borough Council parking facilities take seriously the implementation of measures to actively deter crime and the fear of crime.

Park Mark® is the accredited logo of the Safer Parking Scheme. It is given to parking facilities that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police and the British Parking Association. Their assessments include management and maintenance of the facility, checking that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage, and cleanliness.  All of these facets are known to reduce the opportunity for crime, creating a safer environment for motorists and their vehicles.

Car parks with a Park Mark® can use signage featuring the distinctive Park Mark® tick so that drivers know exactly where to go for safe parking. Facilities that have received this award have seen a drop-in vehicle-related crime of over 80%.

Dan Rodger, Dacorum Borough Council Parking Services Manager said "I am very pleased that Dacorum Borough Council car parks at Church Yard, Frogmore Street East and West, Moor End, St John`s Well Lane, Water Lane and Canal Fields have once again been awarded Park Mark accreditation. We are proud to support the Park Mark award initiative and are pleased to provide safer and welcoming car parks to all our visitors across the borough."

Antony Powell, BPA Area Manager said “I am delighted that seven Dacorum Borough Council car parks located in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring have once again retained their Park Mark accreditation following their recent scheduled reassessment surveys. These facilities are just seven of the twenty-five Dacorum Borough Council car parks that are on the scheme. The awards demonstrate the Council`s hard work and commitment to provide a safer environment for all users of the authority`s car parks.”

Sophie Groombridge, Hertfordshire Constabulary`s Designing Out Crime Officer said “It is great news that Dacorum Borough Council have all of their 25 car parks in the Park Mark scheme. Dan Rodger, the Parking Services Manager, and his team do a fantastic job across the whole borough. All the car parks are extremely well managed, clean and safe for public use.”
