Park Mark award for the Angel Central Shopping Centre in north London
The Angel Central Shopping Centre car park located in Islington, north London, has once again demonstrated the highest standards in management and parking operations
Following a recent site reassessment survey by the BPA and the Metropolitan Police, the Angel Central underground car park, which is managed and operated by the centre management team, has once again achieved the prestigious Park Mark accreditation. This is an impressive achievement and recognises that the Angel Central facilities have measures in place that actively deter crime and the fear of crime.
Park Mark® is the accredited logo of the Safer Parking Scheme. It is given to parking facilities that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the police and the British Parking Association. Their assessments include management and maintenance of the facility, checking that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage, and cleanliness. All these are known to reduce the opportunity for crime, thus creating a safer environment for the motorist and their vehicle.
Car parks with a Park Mark® can use signage featuring the distinctive Park Mark® tick so that drivers know exactly where to go for safe parking. Facilities that have received this award have seen a drop-in vehicle-related crime of over 80%.
P.C. Danny McPhail - Metropolitan Police Designing Out Crime Officer and Park Mark Assessor, said: “This is a very well run and managed car park in a high crime area. It is clearly maintained to a high level. There have been no reported crimes in the past year. This car park is a good example of a well-run London parking facility. Working in partnership with Park Mark guidance has help to maintain the high standards, which clearly keep the car park safe from the crime and anti-social behaviour similar central London car parks suffer from on a daily basis.”
Antony Powell - BPA Area Manager said: “The recent Park Mark award reaccreditation of the Angel Central Shopping Centre`s underground car park in Islington is thoroughly deserved. The parking facilities are excellent. Very well done to Adam Cummins, the Centre Manager, and all the members of his team who are involved in the good management and operation of these facilities. This award demonstrates Angel Central`s commitment to crime reduction and the principles of the Park Mark award initiative.”
Adam Cummins – Angel Central, Centre Manager said: “Achieving the Park Mark accreditation is a fantastic recognition for Angel Central, and reinforces our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone who visits. It’s not only a reflection of the high standards of our parking facilities, but also of the quality, care, and attention we deliver throughout the entire centre.”
