Main Square car park in Camberley receives multiple British Parking Association awards
The council run car park has been awarded the Park Mark and Park Access awards, highlighting its safety and accessibility.
Surrey Heath Borough Council is proud to announce that Main Square Car Park in Camberley has been awarded both the Park Mark and Park Access accolades by the British Parking Association (BPA), following a successful and rigorous assessment.
These awards recognise the Council’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, accessible, and inclusive parking facilities for all users.
The Park Access award celebrates car parks that offer accessible and inclusive parking for people with a wide range of needs, while the Park Mark award, as part of the Safer Parking Scheme (a Police Crime Prevention Initiative), aims to highlight those car parks that have passed a rigorous safety assessment. Car parks that have been awarded a Park Mark award have seen an 80% reduction in crime.
Councillor Alan Ashbery, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Built Environment and Regulation at Surrey Heath Borough Council, commented:
“Since adopting our new Parking Strategy in 2023, the Parking Services team has worked tirelessly to improve car parks across the borough. These enhancements have focused on safety, accessibility, and customer experience.
I’m delighted that these efforts have been recognised by the British Parking Association with the Park Mark and Park Access awards for Main Square Car Park. These accreditations reflect our commitment to creating safe and inclusive spaces for all users. We look forward to continuing this work and achieving further accreditations in the months ahead”
Warren Bradshaw – BPA Area Manager said “It has been a great pleasure for me to have worked with Surrey Heath Borough Council in achieving the Park Mark accreditation for their Main Square Multi-Storey Car Park and Park Access accreditation for their Main Square Multi-Storey Car Park and Knoll Road Car Park, both located in Camberley”.
