BPA becomes a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant
Commitment follows formation of BPA Veterans in Parking Group in 2023
The BPA is proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. The Association has recently developed an EDI policy for all its members and stakeholders, opposing all forms of unfair and unlawful discrimination and recognising the value of diversity in all areas of activity.
The BPA seeks to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by supporting the employment of veterans, service spouses and partners, service members of the reserve forces, service members of our local cadet units, either in our local community or in local schools, and active participation in Armed Forces Day. These commitments will also be communicated to BPA members through events, literature and its website, setting out how the Association will seek to honour these pledges, and inviting feedback from the Armed Forces Community and members on how it is doing.
Signing the Armed Forces Covenant is a key component of the EDI policy, reflecting that managing diversity and developing a culture of inclusion is a continuous process of improvement, not a one-off initiative. The policy will be kept under review and improved on an ongoing basis. It also assists the BPA in delivering its strategic aims and objectives, including:
- Promoting an inclusive and professional sector
- Inspiring and enabling a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion
- Promoting and providing career development opportunities
- Demonstrating the parking sector's value to society
An engaged membership community that reflects society provides various perspectives and experiences that can help shape the Association’s future. All voices are actively encouraged to foster an environment free from harassment and unfair discrimination in which individual potential can be developed to maximise the benefit of its staff, the BPA Community, and wider society and will embed these key principles in all our activities.
