AM-GO Scheme Expands, Adding Platinum Valet at Birmingham Airport

The scheme ensures high standards from approved meet and greet operators, protecting motorists when they go on holiday

The British Parking Association’s new Approved Meet and Greet Parking Operator Scheme (AM-GO) seeks to solve the problem of rogue operators exploiting meet and greet systems. Supported by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police-CPI), the only police endorsed scheme of its kind, it creates a recognised standard for all airports and off-airport meet and greet parking services. Platinum Valet has now signed up to the scheme, expanding it outside of London and offering an AM-GO certified operator in Birmingham airport.

AM-GO aims to create a simple process for people to follow so that they can be reassured that all accredited AM-GO operators have reached the high standards required. Passengers should look for the official AM-GO logo when choosing a Meet and Greet parking operator to verify whether their chosen operator meets industry standards.

When entering the airport car park, passengers should go to the signposted meet and greet area to drop off their keys and then to collect their car when they return.

Ian King, Crime Prevention Design Advisor, Warwickshire Police Prevention Team, said that "The owners of Platinum Valet Parking have worked closely with Warwickshire Police and the British Parking Association to ensure that all of the necessary security measures were put in place in order to achieve their AMGO. By doing so they have demonstrated their determination to create a safe and secure environment in which their customers can guarantee that their vehicles will be safe until they return from their holidays. This is the first AMGO of its kind in Warwickshire, and I feel that the benchmark has been set very high for other companies to follow."

Harry Gill, Founder and Director of Platinum Valet, said "As the first privately owned meet and greet company and second official signatory to join the BPA’s AMGO scheme, Platinum Valet has consistently set the benchmark for quality, trust, and accountability in airport parking. Joining the scheme has further reinforced our commitment to raising industry standards and protecting customers. While our operations are based at Birmingham Airport, we fully support the steps being taken at Heathrow and across the UK to eliminate rogue operators and restore public confidence. Raising standards isn’t just good for business — it’s essential for restoring customer confidence. We welcome all initiatives that promote transparency, professionalism, and the safety of the travelling public, and we invite passengers to choose Platinum Valet with confidence."

The AM-GO scheme ensures that:

  • Motorists will be signposted to a single, reliable data source for AM-GO members and can be confident of leaving their vehicle with an Approved Meet and Greet Operator
  • Airports have designated, clearly marked and signposted Meet and Greet drop-off and pick-up zones
  • Meet and Greet staff, including drivers, will be qualified, professional fully insured, and will carry ID cards and wear uniforms at all times
  • Vehicles will be safely stored in a Park Mark® accredited facility and cars won’t be driven any further than stated on the booking confirmation
  • Both airports and AM-GO members will be regularly assessed and monitored by BPA qualified auditors to uphold the highest standards

The BPA is encouraging drivers to use AM-GO members to ensure that their cars are safe when they’re on holiday. AM-GO approved meet and greet parking operators can be found at https://www.britishparking.co.uk/AM-GO/Operators
