Park Active
The new scheme helps build healthier communities, encouraging active travel by signposting routes and making 'last mile' journies all the easier.
Park Active helps build healthier communities for all by supporting high streets, towns, and city centres, and encouraging people to park, then walk or cycle.
With sites in Brighton, Colchester, London, and, most recently, Middlesborough, the programme enables motorists to drive to and leave their vehicle at a designated location before completing the remainder of their journey on foot or by bicycle, with additional Park Active signage to mark out active travel routes. The initiative aims to ensure that active travel routes tailored to local needs are made accessible and achievable to a broad cross section of the community.
Park Active offers a free practical framework and nationally consistent branding to car park operators where parking is in high demand, such as at retail and leisure destinations, town and city centres, hospitals and universities. It also frees up space for those with accessible needs who require parking that is close to their destination.
If you’re looking to help people change the way they travel, sign up to become a Park Active branded car park by enquiring here. Play your part in tackling the environmental impact of driving by helping to reduce congestion, pollution, and freeing up space for pedestrians and blue badge holders.
